High Notes #1: Lyrics and Stories of Inspiration!

HIGH NOTES #1: Steven Curtis Chapman’s song Great Expectations. “Believe the unbelievable; Receive the inconceivable; And see beyond my wildest imagination; Lord, I come with great expectations.”

Christian and Gospel music has been guiding my life for many years, but I can point to one instance that the music gave me immediate and awesome comfort. I’ll never forget this day…out of the blue the phone rang and I was told that my Grams had just passed. I physically fell to the floor, sobbing and broken. I kind of remember my husband coming in to the kitchen and trying to console me. I couldn’t hear anything…except the lyrics of Steven Curtis Chapman’s song Great Expectations. “Believe the unbelievable; Receive the inconceivable; And see beyond my wildest imagination; Lord, I come with great expectations.” I’ll never forget that day or that song.

Praise The Lord

My Mom passed away a few weeks ago. A couple days after she passed my step dad told me about this song she really liked, and listened to often called "Great Expectations" by Steven Curtis Chapman. I found it so unusual my Mom did not tell me she liked this song because she always tells me EVERY song she likes. After I found the song on iTunes I listened to it, and I must say it is the most powerful song I have ever heard! And it was a blessing in disguise that my mom didn't tell me she liked the song, for it made me strong in coping with her death.
I take it as a message she left behind for me, communicating with me through that song, telling me she is in Heaven in the presence of the Lord.
My mom has communicated with me more than a few times since she has passed a few weeks ago, but I can always listen to "Great Expectations" and feel her soul and spirit! Praise The Lord!
